EV Kapiti

EV Kapiti needs donations to finish the project. The car is soooo close and every dollar helps. The wagon is indeed moving under its own power and requires some small finishing touches to get the tick of approval. NZero Technologies helped by donating batteries and we are asking anyone who has a couple of spare dollars to make the dream legal! Come on Kiwis, lets show what we are made of.

New Toys Arriving!

Check these out!

New generation turbines and inverters are here. Our great range of power inverters are now lighter and run cooler, as well as more DC voltage ranges. These proven inverters work great as a back up power supply as well as a primary supply to smaller installations.

Wind turbines are now in stock. With a number of power ratings, sizes, DC outputs and tower sizes we are sure to have a turbine to suit your requirements. Dont forget NZero are able to perform a site assesment for a small fee to ensure the very best turbine is selected.

Solar charge controllers. Would you buy a brand new television and use a coathanger for an aerial? How about some expensive wine and drink it from a plastic cup? Buying solar panels involves spending your hard earned dollars and if you use a cheap or mismatched solar charge controller you may not get anywhere near the rated output. Worse yet you could actually end up damaging your expensive panels. All NZero charge controllers feature MPPT technology which get every drop of sunlight into your battereies or grid, they also have discharge and short circuit protection to protect your investment.

EV parts are still popular! Whether you are building a childs electric pedal car or converting a bus, NZero has the parts to get you moving. Motors, controllers, batteries and everything in between we can match individual items or supply a complete kit- the choice is yours.

It's all Go

New brands on board!

We have been working hard to negotiate fair prices with many parts suppliers. We have access to many brands and most are listed on the parts page but if you are looking for something in particular from another supplier or you just perfer dealing with one company then please let us know and we can often purchase on your behalf to save shipping fees, delays, translation hassles etc which is all part of providing you with the very best service possible.

Help EV Kapiti

Ruben is so close but would love some help.

You can follow Rubens adventure here but we would love to share a small part of his story and round up support for his project. Ruben started with nothing more then a passion for EVs, after purchasing a dead Subaru 250T stationwagon with the motor already removed he was keen to get some replacement parts in there. Ruben did alot of research and scoured forums for many hours to find the brands and products that people had used and recommended. After deciding on a Netgain (WarP) motor, logitech controller and Zivan charger he was keen to start fitting. Working long and hard Ruben had the rear cut out of the rear hatch, front mounts removed and the interior in peices, now the real work begins.

The motor arrives and small tests and checks take place, using a 12v supply so as not to spin the windings off the armature with a freewheeling motor we check carbon brush contact and position. The first mounts are made up to hold the motor where an automatic transmission once sat. After some battery mounts Ruben decided to start on the electronics, making his own enclosure contactors, controller and related peices were added in. Running cabling to the power steer unit and vacuum pump this was starting to take shape, NZero decided some loan batteries were in order so that road tests could take place.

Everything is in, wired up well enough to see if it is going to run, here we go.... lights on, small wirring all systems are go, the Subaru moves once more! After a few weeks of low speed short runs the controller is adjusted to make starts less jerky, give better acceleration and a better top speed. Some more drives and it is really looking good until..... A light downhill decline in the road and the car is almost home, a loud bang from the bonnet and the car comes to a stop. The controller is fried. Upon inspection the power capacitors were gone (indication of a design right on the limits). To date Logitech have not honoured the warranty and a Kelly controller has been put in its place. Donations though ourselves or Rubens own website would really make a big difference and hopefully get it through the final stages.
